The installation of artefacts in the showcases as the final phase of the exhibition implementation is still largely a hands-on analogue process. The recent technical developments and the affordability of handheld 3D scanners allow for the digitisation and simplification of the workflow. The installation work becomes 3D model based. Custom artefact stands can be produced with 3D printing. The model of the showcase with artefacts in 3D can be published on the web, incorporating it into the visitor journey and allowing for an attractive, interactive knowledge transfer
