Speakers: Heather Carter, Operations Director at Blenheim Palace and Anne Fletcher, Director of Interpretation at ATS

‘Churchill at Blenheim Palace’ is a unique two-part exhibition produced under the extraordinary conditions of a pandemic. This presentation will explore how the team rose to the challenge of opening a major new, permanent exhibition at Blenheim Palace while creating a separate but complimentary online visitor experience. We will demonstrate the importance of stakeholder collaboration and of interpretative planning and will look at how artefacts and archives can be used in different ways to tell stories onsite and online. In particular we will explore how powerful storytelling online is crucial if people are to be fully engaged with a site that they may not be able to visit. We will share what we learned in the process and demonstrate that simply putting content on line is not the same as creating an online visitor experience.
